The new N-Gage is coming…

In case you missed it, PocketGamer in the UK is reporting that Nokia recently held a workshop for the new N-Gage platform, in Santa Monica, California. This raises all sorts of interesting questions for me… but the biggest one still comes down to wishing there was a set of cell phone hardware standards so that targetting the platforms was made easier. Nokia has so many handsets, and they are divided into a handful of capability classes, but even within each class there are varying hardware specs. Now expand that out to include Sony Ericsson, Motorola, etc etc etc. It’s enough to make me want to break out the Tums.
But I suppose it does make lots of interesting problems to solve for the Nokia SDK guys and middleware manufacturers 🙂
It will be interesting to hear more about the new N-Gage at GDC…
