There’s a lot of freaking out going on about the White House sending out Christmas cards that don’t refer to Christmas at all. According to some, Christianity itself is under attack!
At first, I was thinking I’d send the White House a “you done good” email. We have a lot of different faiths in this country of ours, and I think “Happy Holidays” is a fitting way to wish people well this season. Although, frankly, I’m not going to get bent out of shape about the “Christmas” thing. Christmas is more of a capitalist holiday then a religious holiday, as far as I can tell!
In any case, it turns out that the White House Christmas card has a Psalm written inside. So they’re still sticking with the Christianisms. It’s okay. But maybe they don’t have any non-Christian friends? 😉
In any case, not something to get one’s nose bent out of shape about. Isn’t this supposed to be a season of joy and good cheer? Not backbiting and well, stupidity? Oh well!
Oh hey, I do like this one though. From the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony.
Pres Bush: Thank you all very much. Welcome to the Christmas Pageant of Peace. Laura and I are so honored to join you all. The lighting of the National Christmas tree is one of the great traditions in our Nation’s Capital. Each year, we gather here to celebrate the season of hope and joy — and to remember the story of one humble life that lifted the sights of humanity.
Pres Bush: Santa, thanks for coming. (Laughter.) Glad you made it. I know you’ve got a lot of commitments this time of year. By the way, we have a lot of chimneys at the White House — (laughter) — if you’re looking for something to do. […]
Nice one.
Happy Holidays!
